Help Build a Better South Africa

Join us in creating a just South Africa where every individual is visible, equipped to sustain themselves, and empowered with access to information and opportunities to fully participate in society.

Get involved as an unemployed entrepreneur
  • Can you do group facilitation or film a group discussion? Form a Team to start a Community Conversation and become instrumental in bringing people from different backgrounds together to talk about things that matter, while generating income for yourself and others. Read about Community Conversations then select Start a Conversation to request information about what is needed to get started and how the money works.
  • Apply to become a magazine seller and start your own small business, buying and selling magazines, and generating a living wage for yourself. Watch this short movie about the magazine, then apply here to register as a Seller.
  • Are you good at writing, taking photos or drawing cartoons? Contribute content to the magazine. We pay R2 per published word and R200 per published image.
  • Join the Ambassador Programme and earn R50 every time someone orders a Directory on your recommendation! (Conditions apply.) Not only will you earn extra income, but you will also help bring this incredible resource to more South Africans, ultimately helping to create a more resilient and empowered society.
Get involved as an NPO, PBO, CBO
  • Take a look at what the Community Conversations are all about and see if there is a role to play for your organisation in facilitating these nation-building, income-generating events.
  • Register as a Distribution Hub to make magazines available to unemployed people in your community. Each seller stands to earn R3,570 per month for themselves and to generate R1,500 for your organisation. Imagine if you had 10 sellers out there. It could generate R15,000 for your organisation every month! Watch this short movie about the magazine, read the information below the movie, then Register as a Distribution Hub.
  • Are you an expert in your field? Write an article about the problems faced by the people you serve, and about what individuals, families and communities can do to help themselves. If we publish your material in one of our publications, we will pay you for it. Take a look at the Sample Articles or visit our blog and read some of our posts to see what kind of information we are after.
  • Read about the Resource Directory, then List your NPO in the directory. Non-commercial listings are free.
  • Buy a copy of the Resource Directory. The information contained in it will strengthen your work and empower the people you serve.
  • Request a quote for a bulk order and apply for funding so that you can supply your staff and the people you serve with copies of the Resource Directory. It is a phenomenal tool for self and communal development.
Get involved as a concerned onlooker
  • Learn more about Community Conversations and Sign up to be notified when a Community Conversation is going to happen near you. Spread the word and invite affluent neighbours to join you at Conversation events in the local township.
  • Let a qualified individual from an historically disadvantaged community know about the opportunity to form a team, start a Conversation and earn income.
  • Introduce an unemployed person to the opportunity to sell magazines and generate an income for themselves.
  • Introduce an NPO to the Distribution Hub opportunity to help alleviate unemployment and generate income for their organisation.
  • Alert possible places where sellers can sell magazines about the opportunity to make a difference at no cost. Such venues must have high levels of affluent foot traffic: the magazine does not sell in poor areas, nor on the streets.
  • Help a seller get started. Buy them one or two seller T-shirts or their first pack of 10 magazines. They can pay you back after selling their third pack of 10 magazines.
  • Support magazine sellers in your community. Buy a copy of the magazine from them every month.
  • Order copies of the Resource Directory to give to NPOs operating in a township where people have limited access to information.
  • Support our work. Buy a statement T-shirt. Or a poster with a potent message.
